Does the tooth lose its function after root canal treatment?

Güncelleme tarihi: 26 August 2025

No. A tooth that has undergone root canal treatment does not lose its chewing function. Although the nerves within the treated tooth are removed, the tooth structure is preserved, and normal chewing function continues. A crown is generally recommended after root canal treatment to prevent tooth fracture. This provides both aesthetic and functional protection.
